Today was the last day of planting bulbs. Miniature daffodils (naturalizing) and species tulips all in the lawn. As is the case with my other bulbs I choose older and antique varieties.
Yes it’s stinzenplanten planting season.
I am somewhat obsessed with the old European bulb lawn of it all.
So I planted a little over 350 more bulbs today. It’s super easy to do. You just kind of wedge up sections of the lawn like you’re cutting turf or sod or even peat. I plant in like oblong shapes and circles and then I just popped the bulbs in, tucked the lawn back into place and we’re done.

Then I used up my last 8 bales of pine straw from Mid-Atlantic Pine Straw Mulch. I do NOT put the straw around my roses or beds next to the house. Around acid loving plants and the woodland and shade beds. In between I helped wrangle a rooster 🤣
This year I would say that I added close to 500 more bulbs scattered all over.

How fantastic! The mini daffodils will surely be amazing!
I love bulbs that naturalize – am hoping that this will happen in my garden, too. This year, some of the autumn crocus came back, and I made my first dish with homegrown saffron!
