Greetings! Happy New Year’s Eve! This is the last gardening post of 2019.
I haven’t really had anything particular to say because well I just had knee surgery a few days ago.
I had a very gardening Christmas with some great gifts for gardeners.
My husband bought me an aero garden. So about the time I start my seeds for my chili peppers, I will be starting this. Or maybe sooner. Just depends on my knee. Right now I can’t even lift my aero garden it’s too heavy.
My husband also bought me an amazing garden journal, so this winter I will begin the process of writing down my garden. I realize all the cultivars of daffodils and daylilies will not get written down, but hopefully some other things will. (He also bought me a companion cooking journal.)
Friends gave me an awesome gift certificate to BloomBox. I bought myself this cute little trug that clips onto your belt/pants waistband, awesome gloves, and a book called The Bee-Friendly Garden by Kate Frey and Gretchen Le Buhn. And I have a little left over for spring plants!
But the thing that excites me the most about my garden on December 31, 2019 is the return of our blue birds! The photo above is not the best and I took it from inside with my phone because well I’m not really walking around much at present.
Having the blue birds appear on New Year’s Eve to me is a good omen. And I have to be honest it’s the thing that has made me smile the most in close to a week.
Cheers my dear gardeners and let the countdown begin towards spring 2020! Thank you for spending time with me this year!
