In winter there are a little things you can do to help your critters who live in and around your garden. Like keeping water out for them.
The photo above is a big plain plastic saucer that I use for a birdbath during the winter. I don’t have a place where I can plug in a heated birdbath or a heater for a birdbath. So I can do this little basic thing.
I change the water, and yes some days I am sliding a giant ice cube out of the saucer. But I put more water in it, usually warm, because when it’s cold it cools quickly but it doesn’t freeze right away.
Every morning and throughout the day, I see various birds and even squirrels stopping for a little bath or a drink. So I know this is a good thing.
Happy gardening (even in winter!)
